The church of San Mauro Abate stands near the western side of the medieval walls of Oristano. The recent finding of several ancient documents, dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth century, has made it possible to accurately identify this monument. From said documents we learn that the church of San Mauro Abate used to host the chapel of Saints Crispino and Crispiniano, belonging to the Gremio dei Calzolai, and the Chapel of the Santissima Vergine della Pietà, relating to the Confraternita della Pietà.
